The HOBSCOTCH program at UCSF

HOBSCOTCH (Home-Based Self-Management and Cognitive Training Changes Lives) is an evidence-based self-management program that helps improve the lives of people with epilepsy. While not a cure, HOBSCOTCH helps adults with seizure disorders manage and cope with memory challenges to lead happier, more productive lives.
In an initiative led by Dr. Kleen, UCSF Epilepsy has been actively working with The HOBSCOTCH Institute, based at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, to help connect patients interested in this memory-focused program.
Currently, HOBSCOTCH can be delievered FREE, thanks to generous funding by the CDC to Dartmouth and places like UCSF connected through the HITN Network HITN Network (read more about HITN here)

For more information about HOBSCOTCH, and how to sign up, you can either:

Exciting News!

In 2025, we also had exciting news that some patients depending on insurance coverage may be eligible to receive HOBSCOTCH at UCSF's beautiful new Bayfront Medical Building on the Mission Bay Campus! This is generously provided by the Speech-Language Therapy team led by Deborah Ha Clinical Supervisor. If you are interested in HOBSCOTCH at the Bayfront Building, contact them here or ask your UCSF Epilepsy provider.
